A weathered lime-plaster wall cracking to reveal the earthen substrate beneath

Second Skin

Hand-troweled lime and clay finishes for old walls.

We rebuild lime-plastered walls by hand: mortar mixed on site, textures matched to the original, surfaces left to breathe.

The studio

Calx is a small crew working on old masonry across the valley. We build our coats from slaked lime, local sand, and earth pigment. No cement, no plastic paint. Each wall is floated, troweled, and burnished by hand, then left to carbonate and harden over the seasons.
