Twelve coats, one cloth — a winter cut in charcoal, slate and chalk

Greycoat makes outerwear in a narrow register of grey. This season's cloth is a midweight merino twill from a single Yorkshire mill, woven in three undyed shades and cut generously through the shoulder so a heavy knit fits underneath.

Each coat closes with corozo buttons and carries a double-stitched storm seam. Sixty of each are made, and none are restocked mid-season. When yours wears out, send it back — we repair and re-line for the life of the garment.

Shot in one week, on film, between the studio and the street

There is no set styling in this book. The coats are photographed as they hang — no pinning, no press — on the people who cut and sewed them, and on friends of the studio.

Two cameras, one roll a day, the streets within ten minutes of the workshop. If a frame looks grey, that is because the city is, and the cloth was made for it.
